Of course artist quality paints are better but more expensive. Winsor and Newton artist quality is good, or Michael Harding (my favourite artist quality, but they are much more expensive than student quality).
With this selection of paints, you will be able to mix any colours you need. Don’t buy cheap paint as there is no pigment in them and they only make work for you!
Brushes and Palette Knives
You will need a selection of brushes in different sizes. (Rosemary & Co., Ivory long flats and filberts 2, 4, 6, and 10 are my favourite brushes). or hog hair long flats. I am sure you have lots of brushes already so go with what you have to start.
Stretched canvases or canvas boards. I will be painting my demonstrations on lots of different sizes including 15x20cm, 20x25cm, 25x30cm, 30x30cm, 60x60cm and 60x80cm boards and canvases during the course.
My advice is not to paint big on the challenges. A 20x25cm or 25x30cm (8″x 10″ or 10 x 12″), would be best so you get it finished quickly. You will have a challenge at the end of each module so whatever size you decide on get 6!
Palette
Disposable, wooden or glass palettes. But an old tile will work too.
