Leon Holmes Pochade Box
My new Boomer Pochade box Boomer 9″ x 16″ by Australian artist Leon Holmes is the latest addition to my growing collection of plein air easels!
I have been using it for a year now and it is the one I reach for, for any plein air outing. I leave my paints in it between paint outs with a few drops of clove oil to keep the oils from drying out. The Pochade is so light and versatile and acts as a wet canvas carrier too as it has clips to hold your wet panel in place while closed. I have to admit I also bought the small Joey 9″ x 6″ model, which is so easy to bring everywhere as it is small and light and makes it perfect to pop in any bag. I love painting little 6″ x 8″ when time is short.
In these photos you see me using the Boomer at a demo in Kilkenny Design, Nassau Street, Dublin and at the Dublin Plein Air Festival, Monaghan Plein Air Festival and Art In The Open.
It was great to finally meet Leon at last years Art In The Open (2023) and get the run down on the best way to use his Pochade boxes.
If you are looking for a light versatile Pochade box with a built in wet canvas carrier which is very reasonably priced, I would definitely recommend these models.
